STATEMENT

I was born in a mountain village in Nara, and spent my childhood surrounded by rich, abundant nature.
One day as a child, I overheard a casual remark from my family—“We had hoped for a boy.”
That small comment became a turning point, prompting me to question my own existence.
Since then, the themes of selfhood and identity have formed the foundation of my creative practice.
Natural forms are deeply connected to my early memories, and I have continued to depict them as recurring motifs in my work.

In recent years, however, I have begun to turn my focus more toward “people” themselves, painting imaginary figures—children from within my own heart.
The goldfish that often appears in my work carries the message: “Fish is fish.”
A fish can only be a fish. You can only be yourself.

Be yourself.

In an age overflowing with information, it is easy to lose sight of who we are.
Through my work, I hope to offer viewers a moment to quietly reflect, reconnect with themselves.

私は奈良の山間部に生まれ、幼少期より豊かな自然の中で過ごしました。

子どもの頃に耳にした「男の子が欲しかった」という家族の何気ない会話が、自分自身の存在について考えるきっかけとなり、以来、自己形成やアイデンティティへの関心が制作の根幹にあります。

自然の形象は、幼少期の記憶と密接に結びついたモチーフとして描き続けてきました。
そして近年はより”人”そのものに近づこうと、架空の人物（心の中の子供）描いています。

よく登場する金魚は「Fish is fish」（魚は魚）というメッセージを込めています。
魚は魚にしかなれない。あなたはあなたにしかなれない。
